A partner in the firm’s Construction Law and Litigation & Dispute Resolution Groups, Ryan has steadily built a robust litigation practice that encompasses a wide spectrum of commercial matters, with a specialization in construction law.
Possessing strong advocacy skills, Ryan frequently acts on breach of contract cases, arbitrations, construction lien matters, shareholder and partnership disputes and adjudications. He appears before various levels of court, private arbitrators and mediators and administrative tribunals.
Focusing on matters across the greater Toronto area, Ryan has extensive experience with mid and hi-rise residential condominium projects, as well as infrastructure and municipal projects. Ryan advises on all aspects of a project, from contract formation and risk management to negotiations and adjudication of disputes. Ryan has acted on numerous private and public disputes involving matters such as disputes over payment of invoices and holdback, scope, unforeseen ground conditions, price escalations, contract terminations, back charges, deficiencies and remediations. He also regularly advises on contracts, including CCDC and CCA forms of contracts involving supplementary conditions.
With an in-depth understanding of the construction landscape, Ryan is ideally positioned to represent clients on all sides of the table, including developers, trades and owners. He leverages his sharp business acumen and strategic mindset, coupled with his knowledge of the law and industry, to skillfully guide and counsel his clients through every stage of the construction process—from onset to completion.
