Congratulations to Sidney Troister of our Corporate Real Estate Group for his election as a Bencher of The Law Society of Ontario

Torkin Manes is pleased to congratulate Sidney Troister on being elected by his peers as a Bencher of The Law Society of Ontario.
Sidney continues a long tradition of leadership for Torkin Manes in the governance of lawyers in Ontario. Ron Manes was elected a Bencher in 1986 and re-elected four more time for a total of 5 terms as an elected bencher. He became a Life Bencher in 2010 and has served almost 30 years as a Bencher. Additionally, Laurie Pawlitza was elected Bencher and served as Treasurer of the Law Society.
The Law Society of Ontario's new governing board will run for the 2019-23 bencher term, following the election of 40 lawyer benchers and five paralegals — from a total of 126 lawyer candidates and 18 paralegal candidates.
The bencher election is held every four years, and this was the first election where lawyer and paralegal benchers were elected simultaneously.
We congratulate Sidney Troister on his re-election to this prominent position.
