Lisa R. Lifshitz joins Women’s Legal Education & Action Fund Board of Directors

Torkin Manes is pleased to announce that partner Lisa R. Lifshitz has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Women’s Legal Education & Action Fund (“LEAF”) for a one-year term.

Launched in 1985, LEAF is a national charitable organization that focuses on litigation, law reform and public education, and works towards ensuring the law guarantees substantive equality for all women, girls, trans, and non-binary people.

Since its inception, LEAF's groundbreaking intervention and cases have helped create and foster gender equality in Canada, pursuing the elimination of discrimination, advancing reproductive freedoms, enhancing spousal support, pay equity, and promoting aboriginal rights. LEAF has played a significant role on a wide range of issue areas related to equality rights across communities, such as access to justice, combatting hate speech and online hate, identity-based oppression, promoting workplace rights and other matters where equality is jeopardized.

Congratulations to Lisa on her most recent election to the board of this important organization. For more information, please visit LEAF’s website.
