Ron Manes honoured for his work with Pro Bono Ontario

On September 11, 2018, Pro Bono Ontario honoured the firms and individuals who have given their time to help make the first year of their Free Legal Advice Hotline an amazing success. We are proud to announce that Ron Manes was honoured with the award for being the top individual volunteer. Since the Free Legal Advice Hotline launched, he has given 225+ hours of his time to the Free Legal Advice Hotline.   

Launched in September 2017, hundreds of volunteer lawyers have helped up to 80 Hotline callers per day with just-in-time legal advice on everyday legal problems ranging from housing issues to job losses to consumer scams and business start-up concerns. Volunteers are the backbone of the five-day-per week hotline that provides 30 minutes of free legal advice and legal drafting services to low-income Ontarians who otherwise wouldn’t have anywhere to turn. These services are invaluable to vulnerable people whose barriers to justice include low-income, age, disability, geography, poor transit options and childcare obligations.
