Sidney Troister and Lisa R. Lifshitz named among the leading practitioners in Canada in the 2023 Lexpert®/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada

We are pleased to announce that Sidney Troister and Lisa R. Lifshitz have been recognized as leading practitioners in Canada in the most recent edition of the preeminent legal directory Lexpert®/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada.

As a leading member and senior statesman of the Ontario Real Estate Bar, Sidney has built an established law practice encompassing all aspects of commercial and residential real estate, leasing and financing transactions. With his broad real estate experience, he is consulted regularly by industry, government, title insurers, and lawyers for his expertise, and his practical and creative approach to transaction problem solving. He is an elected bencher for the Law Society of Ontario, as well as an arbitrator and a mediator of real estate and commercial leasing disputes. As an expert on the provisions of subdivision control in Ontario, Sidney dedicated more than two decades championing amendments to the legislation, and was instrumental in effecting legislative reform to the Ontario Planning Act. As a testament to his outstanding contributions to the practice of law in Ontario, he was awarded the Law Society Medal in 2008.  

Lisa specializes in the areas of information technology and business law, and is Chair of the firm’s Technology, Privacy & Data Management Group. She provides technology-related advice on financings and acquisitions, including cross-border deals, and advises on various IT contracts, including cloud computing, IoT, AI/smart contracts, fintech, blockchain and open source legal matters. Lisa has considerable experience helping non-Canadian companies, especially American entities, create appropriate legal agreements for their entry into the Canadian marketplace. She is a prolific writer and speaker on various topics related to privacy, cybersecurity and data management, and has been consistently recognized as an elite industry leader in technology, privacy and cybersecurity law.
