Torkin Manes is pleased to announce the promotion of four of our lawyers—Robert Barbiero, Cody Dolgay, Gillian Howe and James Leech—to the partnership, effective immediately.
Each of these individuals exemplifies the highest standards of the bar, as well as our firm’s core values of professional excellence and personalized client service.
An instrumental member of the firm’s Litigation Group, Robert Barbiero’s practice is focused on health law and professional discipline, where he provides strategic counsel to regulated health professionals and represents them in regulatory, administrative, and civil proceedings. In this regard, he has extensive experience in defending regulated health professionals in College proceedings (e.g., complaint, discipline, and registration matters), hospital privilege disputes, insurer audits, and matters before the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board, and the Health Services Appeal and Review Board.
Cody Dolgay is a member of the firm’s Litigation group. In addition to a broad civil litigation practice, Cody has a unique and diverse expertise in insurance law. His practice focuses on acting for policyholders in almost every industry, and he regularly advises clients on complex insurance issues, including first-party commercial insurance claims and liability coverage disputes, both at the claims level and in litigation. Cody also advises for-profit and not-for-profit organizations on various issues related to their insurance portfolios, liability exposure mitigation, civil defence, and indemnity agreements.
As a member of Torkin Manes’ Employment & Labour Group, Gillian Howe provides skilled counsel to employers with unionized and non-unionized workplaces, representing clients across a variety of sectors of the economy in both the private and public sectors. Her practice encompasses all manner of E&L, as she represents employers on a broad scope of labour and employment matters, including wrongful or constructive dismissal actions, human rights complaints, grievance arbitrations and labour board proceedings. She assists employers in successfully navigating complex workplace and human resource issues, providing strategic and practical advice to clients. Gillian also regularly provides labour and employment support and counsel on corporate transactions.
James Leech regularly advises on a broad range corporate, commercial, and business law matters with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, securities, private equity, joint ventures, and partnerships. He is a valued member of our Corporate Finance & Securities and Business Law Groups, where he leverages his exceptional client service and keen business acumen to assist a range of clients seize strategic opportunities while navigating potential obstacles.
