Torkin Manes welcomes five new associates

Torkin Manes is pleased to congratulate our five new associates on their recent calls to the Bar, and proudly welcome them to the firm as our newest associates. 

Sahaab Bajwa earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law. During law school, Sahaab volunteered for the Future of Law Lab, International Human Rights Program, and was a co-chair for the University of Toronto chapter of Animal Justice. Further, he was selected for a mergers and acquisitions externship with another well-known Toronto law firm, gaining hands-on experience working with M&A lawyers to resolve complex litigation issues. Sahaab summered at a large financial institution before articling at Torkin Manes and returning as an associate. He is a member of our Corporate/Commercial Group.

Lexie Cooper is a Dean’s Honour List graduate of the Lincoln Alexander School of Law. While at law school, Lexie received the highest grade in both Family and Administrative Law. She was a Family Law Teaching Assistant, co-founder and co-president of the Jewish Law Students Association, a clinic assistant at Pro-Bono Students Canada, a mentor in the school’s Tri-mentoring program, and a volunteer with Level Justice. Prior to returning as an associate, Lexie summered and articled at Torkin Manes. She is a member of our Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group.

Ida Sherkat graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School, where she was the recipient of the Blake Cassels & Graydon LLP Prize in Business Associations. During her time in law school, she was a caseworker at Fair Change Community Services, a legal clinic serving street-involved individuals. Before returning to Torkin Manes as an associate, Ida summered and articled with the firm. She is a member of our Commercial Real Estate Group. 

Mikaila Venturo is a graduate of Western University, Faculty of Law, where she worked for the Western Business Law Clinic and volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada. Throughout her time at Western Law, Mikaila participated in various events hosted by the Career and Professional Development Office, and was a mentor in the Buddy program, tutored students in Administrative Law, and achieved the highest grade in Civil Procedure. Prior to returning as an associate, Mikaila summered and articled at Torkin Manes. She is a member of our Corporate/Commercial Group.

Herman Wong is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, he was the first place co-winner in the Winkler Institute Negotiation Competition, a two-time semi-finalist in the annual Dentons Cup negotiation competition, and the recipient of the Miller Thomson LLP National Entrance Award. At Osgoode, Herman served as a student representative on the Osgoode Student Caucus, a copy editor for Obiter Dicta, a member of the Osgoode chapter of the International Refugee Assistance Project, and a mentor in the Osgoode Mentorship Program and for Osgoode OUTLaws. Prior to joining as an associate, Herman articled at the firm. He is a member of our Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group.
